Endometriosis Physiotherapy on the Gold Coast
Personalised physiotherapy support for women living with endometriosis, helping you better understand your symptoms, manage flare-ups and build confidence in your body.
Living With Endometriosis Can Be Challenging
Endometriosis is a complex condition that can affect many areas of life, including work, exercise, relationships, sleep and emotional wellbeing.
Symptoms can vary significantly between individuals. Some women experience severe period pain, while others may experience pain with intercourse, bladder symptoms, bowel symptoms, fatigue or persistent pelvic pain throughout the month.
While physiotherapy does not treat the endometriosis lesions themselves, it can play an important role in addressing the musculoskeletal, pelvic floor and nervous system factors that may contribute to ongoing symptoms.
At Boutique Pelvic Health, treatment is tailored to your unique experience and goals, helping you better understand your body and develop practical strategies for day-to-day life.
Common Symptoms
-
Pelvic Pain
Period pain, pelvic pain, ovulation pain and lower abdominal discomfort that may affect daily activities.
-
Bladder & Bowel Symptoms
Urgency, frequency, pain with bladder filling, constipation, bowel pain or painful bowel motions.
-
Fatigue & Flare-Ups
Fatigue, symptom flare-ups around the menstrual cycle, pain with exercise or increased sensitivity during stressful periods.
How Physiotherapy May Help
Physiotherapy forms part of a multidisciplinary approach to managing endometriosis and may help address contributing factors outside of the endometriosis lesions themselves.
Treatment may include:
• Pelvic floor assessment and rehabilitation
• Management of pelvic floor muscle overactivity and tension
• Education regarding pain and nervous system sensitisation
• Breathing and relaxation strategies
• Movement and exercise guidance
• Scar tissue management following surgery
• Bladder and bowel management strategies
• Pacing and flare-up management
• Individualised home programs
The aim is to help improve confidence, reduce symptom burden and support participation in the activities that are important to you.
What To Expect At Your First Appointment
Your initial consultation is 60 minutes and provides time to gain a detailed understanding of your symptoms, history and goals.
Your appointment may include:
• Discussion of your symptoms and concerns
• Review of medical history and investigations
• Assessment of posture, breathing and movement patterns
• Pelvic floor assessment where appropriate
• Development of an individualised treatment plan
An internal pelvic floor examination is often recommended because it can provide valuable information about muscle function and sensitivity. However, your consent is always required and alternative assessment options are available.

FAQ's
Can physiotherapy cure endometriosis?
Physiotherapy does not cure endometriosis or remove endometriosis lesions. However, many women find physiotherapy helpful for addressing pelvic floor muscle tension, pain sensitisation, movement limitations, bladder and bowel symptoms, and other factors that may contribute to ongoing symptoms.
Can physiotherapy help after endometriosis surgery?
Yes. Physiotherapy may assist with recovery following laparoscopic surgery by addressing scar tissue restrictions, pelvic floor dysfunction, movement confidence and persistent pain that may remain after surgery.
Can endometriosis cause pelvic floor muscle tension?
Yes. Ongoing pain can lead to protective muscle guarding and increased pelvic floor muscle tension. This may contribute to pain with intercourse, bladder symptoms, bowel symptoms and ongoing pelvic discomfort.
Why do I still have pain after surgery?
For some women, pain may persist even after successful surgery. This can occur due to pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, nervous system sensitisation, scar tissue restrictions or other contributing factors that exist alongside endometriosis.

Is telehealth available?
Yes. Telehealth pelvic health physiotherapy appointments are available Australia-wide.
Telehealth can be particularly helpful for people living outside the Gold Coast, those with mobility limitations, busy schedules, or individuals who would prefer to begin with education and self-management strategies before attending in person.
Depending on your symptoms, telehealth appointments may include education, exercise prescription, bladder and bowel management strategies, pain management approaches, movement assessment and guidance for home-based rehabilitation.
